A native of Glace Bay, Scott Ferguson joined Trade Centre Limited (TCL) in 1985. After holding several management positions during his tenure at TCL, Scott served as TCL’s Executive Vice-President and Interim President & CEO before being appointed President & CEO on September 29, 2009.
 
As President and CEO, Scott and his team (approximately 100 full-time and 400+ part-time staff) work together to bring the world to Nova Scotia through event attraction and hosting. TCL creates economic and community benefits by hosting major events, conventions/conferences, cultural shows and sporting events. TCL’s various business areas support this mission including the World Trade and Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre, Exhibition Park, Ticket Atlantic, World Trade Centre Halifax and the Sales and Marketing for the new Halifax Convention Centre.
 
A graduate of Saint Mary’s University (1998-2000), Scott holds a Master of Business Administration degree, as well as, a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics) from Acadia University. He has also completed executive courses at University of Toronto (Rotman) and Harvard and holds a designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D)
 
Scott’s professional affiliations include the following: Chair, Convention Centers of Canada; Member, AIPC (International Association of Convention Centres); Member, International Association of Venue Managers; Destination Halifax board member, Hotel Association of Nova Scotia board member; Board Member, Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors, Maritime Chapter; Connect Nova Scotia Leadership Team member; HRM Strategic Urban Partnership Committee, Workforce of the Future Committee, Advanced Education and the Community Leadership Advisory Council.
 
An active member in our community, Scott is a Governor with Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia (2013) and the 2013 Different Stage of Mind fundraising event for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
 
In 2011, Scott was named one of Atlantic Canada’s top 50 CEO’s by Atlantic Business Magazine. Past accomplishments include co-chairing the 2011 Canada Winter Games Bid committee and serving as the Halifax Chair for the 2008 World Hockey Championship, an event that won the 2009 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance PRESTIGE Award for the Sport Event of the Year.
